This latest job board I was referred to really pissed me off:
It's tagline:
"Find people who already have jobs
From its info page:
"karmaONE Candidates: Only people who are currently employed can apply for karmaONE jobs. If you are unemployed, we still love you. But try Monster or HotJobs (or network with your friends). Then ... when you have a job, we'll happily let you apply for jobs via karmaONE.
Employers: Only candidates who are currently employed can use karmaONE. If you are looking to get hundreds of resumes from unqualified people, try a traditional job board...we're not down with that. karmaONE helps you find people that aren't looking for a job."
Seems it's suggesting to employers that unemployed people are inherently unqualified and poaching is their only option. Not exactly promoting corporate loyalty--don't start looking for a job unless you have one but let's keep the unemployed people unemployed because they deserve it??
On a related note,
From Business Week:
Corporate training. Top Indian IT services firms such as Infosys, Genpact, and Tata Consulting Services already have impressive in-house training programs for new recruits. According to Kaka, these companies can put fresh college engineering graduates in a sort of boot camp for a few months to bring them up to the standards multinationals demand. Such intensive training programs can be implemented on a much grander scale.

Why can't the US do this?
