UIE Conference so a lot of information and experiences to process. Very inspirational surrounded by people up on the latest techniques. Christine Perfetti, Director of Web Research is around my age and head of company totally respects her and holds up her opinion. Kelly Goto is a well known designer who is now dabbling in ethnography and mobile phone research--she recommended Mimi's new book on phones, talked about moblogging and went off about Genevieve Bell's research. So definitely learning who I should connect with. I should definitely start speaking up sooner when I see trends since I could have given the same lecture two years ago.

Interesting commentary by Jared Spool on social networking. He commended Netflix's use of social networking because of its potential business use (finding out what movies your friends are watching). He compared applications like orkut and linkedin to "collecting baseball cards" since there wasn't as much application.

Potential leads with several companies so just need to learn to present myself better. Dinner with Amon, who was very encouraging about how to present research interests and what I could offer to a team.

Interesting articles in the Boston paper. One of Future Home. Another about IBM's policy on banning genetic tests for employees (i.e. if turns out 30 yr old woman is found to have genes predisposing her towards heart disease, can't be held against her). More commentary later.
