What a weird few days. Workload beginning to intensify, but still trying to cram in all these cultural activities. Finally got tickets for CHI, now looking for hotel and roommates. Guy from program seriously asked if wanted to be roommates. Just now turned on TV to see Sarah Jones on Bravo--rescheduled suddenly so ended up missing most of it.
Today started off by running to All Saint's again. Missed intro singing, but rest was ok. Discussion afterwards on foreign policy with pizza. Ran back to campus to work on poster for HCI Day. Then back to MARTA, just in time for trolley which didn't even know was running. To 7 Stages to be an usher for "Skinwalkers" which ended up being rather strange.
On the way, randomly called Sonia, who shocked me with the news that she had just gotten home from the hospital after having a heart attack! At 33! The first time she had gotten discharged since the doctor didn't believe her but luckily she went back a second time--otherwise she would be dead! She had to have surgery but still some of her heart muscle died. So after that my life would seem pretty calm.
Talked to Scott last night. His big worry is about a satellite he worked on which is up in orbit now. Apparently a wheel fell off or something. He seemed pretty tired--had to come in Satuday morning and was on-call in case they called again in evening.
Went to see "Ballet Trockadero de Montecarlo" at Ferst Center. Got last minute ushering slot but had already bought ticket so ended up going back and forth and finally just using the ticket. Oh well. Talking to other ushers who said it was 2/3 men, was surprised it wasn't more when they thought about it because of all the gay men. To me, there seemed to be a lot of women so I think they may have been a little biased. Even the show itself attracted a little more laughter than I think it deserved. Sure, there were pratfalls and exaggerations, but there was a lot of great technique too with amazing extensions. Really you could forget that they were all guys at times. Definitely fun.
Friday night went to Hong Kong movie. Got a group together from Craig's List. Two beforehand for dinner/coffee at ToGos and 2 more joined at movie. Afterwards more discussion over coffee at Starbucks. Invigorating--wish I had done this sooner. Good to feel listened to.
Thursday saw "Into the Woods". Creepy and way too dark.
