"Life is not the amount of breath you take, it's the moments that take your breath away". From "Hitch" movie which I haven't bothered to see.
Went to eight-minute dating Thursday night. Ho-hum. It was interesting talking to different people at least. Didn't put anyone down for dating, only friends so we'll see. Only a few matches and not sure if people follow up for friends.
Thursday class kind of weird. All about Gender swapping online and single sex communities. Didn't bring up experience with Bryn Mawr community at all. At end Amy raised the question of why straight women had an affinity with gay men and gave this totally bogus answer. I was dying to say something but was hesitant. Then ended with an assertion from Henry James, some video game guy at MIT, that the only totally fulfilled relationships are between gay men which I found incredibly offensive. Which goes to show that PhDs need to get out more and don't really know anything.
On that note went to therapist who said her purpose was to be a mirror which seemed pretty useless. She tried to put words in my mouth. Really the housekeeper's words of wisdom seemed much more valuable.
Went to morning sessions on Latinos on campus which ended up being really great. Sponsored by the Latino fraternity and was the only girl that showed up. Good discussion--hadn't really experienced that since Bryn Mawr. All about divisions between Latinos and international students, the lack of attention to Latinos on campus.
