It snowed! Here in Atlanta! Really!
A light dusting really, maybe 2 inches but looked very nice on trees and sides of road. Jyogia and Surrabhi were up early, chatting loudly about it but I had a major double take when I finally woke up myself.
Excited so called up my mom in NC, where it was still snowing, over 10 inches.
And then I talk to Bob in Chicago, where it was a beautiful day.
Mental slog at work, mostly email and orkut in between finding out more about my new assignment.
After work, went to see "City of God" at Tech with Jartu. Very intense and disturbing with a lot of violence. Growing up in the favela, trying to survive amidst all the drugs and gangs. Based on a true story, which makes it even scarier. They showed real footage and photos at the end. Protagonist ended up escaping that life by taking pictures, snapping pictures of the gang members posing for the paper. Kid who kills his brother at beginning of movie grows up to be gang leader killed by a gang of kids with guns that he gave them. Goes full circle, ending with tragic humor of kids talking about killing rivals as if it were a video game.
On a lighter note, watched "Straight Plan for the Gay Man". Took the "Queer Eye" stereotypes to a whole new level. Hysterical.
Found an old friend from NCSU on Orkut. He left after only one semester of knowing him and I never knew why or how to contact him. Turns out he got kicked out of house after he came out to parents then moved to L.A. So much for family values. We caught up over IM for a while. He's now my first "fan"
