Got off to a strange start today. Awaken pre-7 am by kitchen noise, but then lingered in bed while dreaming that I got up and was getting ready.
Yesterday went to lecture by Emory author on robots and morality and women. Not especially profound, but I happened to find an article on Roomba, the new robot vaccuum cleaner, so mentioned it. Afterwards talked for a while with Marleigh, fellow HCI student and then the professor who seemed interested in what I had to say and gave me his card to stay in touch with him.
Evening went to alumni lecture with a bunch of people from my business class. Two of the speakers were connected with nanotechnology so thought it would be good for our project. Before hand, some mingling and hoeur d'erves--yummy shrimp and spinach. One of group members had camera and said something about wanting to take a picture with Wayne Clough, the president of Ga Tech. I had seen him near the food, so we moved in that direction. Within minutes, he was walking by and we asked to take a photo with him. He ended up asking me what I was studying and was impressed when I told him HCI. So much, that when answering a question, he pointed me out since I was sitting in the front row as "the young lady that was studying human-computer interface" as an example of innovative programs. So that was definitely exciting! Also got to talk to the professors who seemed very interested in helping out with the project. Hopefully that will help since we're having trouble getting started on the project.
