What a day. Off to a late start after a long day yesterday. Wandering Golden Gate Park with Jan--Japanese tea garden, botanical garden, park with people doing Tai Chi in morning and dancing to Lindy Hop a little later. Then arranged lunch with Aileen and Rainbow and one of their friends so introduced to dim sum. Very tasty. J teased that I should try three new foods every day that I'm here and I definitely tried a lot. I hadn't seen or heard from Aileen and Rainbow in 10-11 years so it was fun to catch up with them. So novel to be with friends to hang out with.

Last night A invited us to CD release party at Hard Rock with band that apparently had quite a large lesbian following. Lead singer was very enthusiastic, jumping on top of tables to sing. The only songs I recognized were 80s, with a lot of bass guitar, but was a little distracted since I lost my hat.

Other highlights today--overlook to Golden Gate Bridge in early evening(along with great view of stars), wandering through the Exploratorium(though closed earlier than I was expecting), driving through streets of Victorian Townhouses and Haight-Ashbury neighborhood where hippies used to be, watching LOTR Two Towers and Thai takeout. Got CityPass so could hop on transit and go around to all the museums.

Yesterday, a lot of wandering by car, through Castro, Twin Peaks overlook, mountains near San Jose, outside of freaky Winchester mystery house, Apple Headquarters (called Bob to gloat), ebay, Stanford(got a few acappella CDs), dinner with Matt and Annie, more of Jan's friends, at a Malay restaurant and the curviest street in world. Brunch at a fusion restaurant where I tried some Hawaiian version of french toast stuffed with banana and covered with coconut sauce. Then wandering around Jan's neighborhood which has a lot of cool little shops and Victorian houses. He is moving soon to be closer to work(50 mile commute each way) but seems like he'll miss the place.
