Reading "Microserfs". Fun because I'm getting to the part where they explore SF and Silicon Valley so I can recognize some of the reference like Noe Valley, Jan's neighborhood.

"San Francisco is a weird tesseract of hipness...It's a big town that feels like neighborhoods:a municipal expression of Local Area Networks".

So kind of strange to go from that exploration mode to here where I spend most of my time in a house with a tall pointy double-locked gate--not a way I'd like to live. Went out with Susy today to her tennis club and she took me around the city to see the new parts, mostly big stores and car places. When she was dropping me off, rang gate doorbell which apparently wasn't working so had to go back to Susy's house and call Gloria to let me in. At least she has a computer now. OD'd on IMing last night after a weird conversation with Mike about match.
