Where did the day go? Kroger, web browsing, no homework. I bought an ibook last week with "buy-it-now" on ebay after trekking to the Apple Store and CompUsa at Lennox and agonizing over SmallDog vs. used one on Powerbookcentral Classifieds. I was actually IM-ing Bob when I got it--he was telling me to wait even longer since the prices were just going to keep on coming down. But at $650 for 700 with airport, thought it was too good to pass up so went for it.Yet still I found myself checking out the ads this week and spent a while looking at ebay ads and checking out those features that wish mine had had--extra software, applecare, combo drive and so on. This evening I saw a 600 with a BIN of $500 including an ibot. I was already happy about finally finding a good webcam since they are so expensive (apple seems to push the high quality and prices) and was thinking about reselling the ibook and maybe even making a profit, but by the time I warmed up my tea and came back to my computer, someone had beat me to it. Guess it serves me right for being greedy. Oh well. It went to a dealer who obviously saw the same opportunity I did.
Also checking out airfares and seeing if I could stop by SF while going to El Paso. It's looking to be a little pricey...should have started looking earlier...
Last night, Halloween, actually went out with some people to see Dracula movie in Spanish and to Loca Luna, a tapas place with live music. On the way passed a lot of creatively costumed people in line for the Q101 concert. Person I was with pointed out the trend towards "slutty" costumes...slutty nurse, slutty Snow White, slutty school girl, etc.
Surabhi's woes--her husband came to visit her again and dropped his passport while visiting the DMV. Some guy picked it up, got their phone number and proceeded to call them asking them to meet him at various dark and questionable areas with $300 in return for the passport. Police couldn't do anything and the replacement process takes over a month, meaning he can't go back to Kuwait for a while. At least they didn't get hurt--sounded like the setup for a tragic situation...
