Had an interesting conversation with one of my roommates today. She was cooking quite a meal with a lot of vegetables and she asked me if I had been brought up to cook and if it was customary to cook in American households. Somehow it evolved into a discussion of why I wasn't married and all the changes that came with marriage. For her, the biggest change was life with the in-laws, but she went on about how great marriage was. She married for love, but her sister had an arranged marriage. I used the "such a big adjustment" excuse, followed by the "they aren't always available" but really how can you plan something like that? It's weird, I figured as I got older, I'd meet "the one" and be grown up but somehow I feel less interested in that nowadays I feel like I'm more apathetic than ever. It's good to have my assumptions challenged though.
